- Red
Cedar Review, Michigan State University's Literary Digest
- CR:
New Centennial Review, (Michigan State University) is
devoted to comparative studies of the Americas that suggest
possibilities for plural futures. We seek philosophically inflected
interventions, provocations, and insurgencies that trouble the
limits of the potentialities of the Americas. We also encourage
more global and theoretical work with implications for the Americas.
- Third
Coast, a literary magazine published biannually by the
Department of English at Western Michigan University.
- Sulfur,
founded at the California Institute of Technology in 1981, Sulfur
is now based at Eastern Michigan University, edited by EMU English
professor Clayton Eshleman. In book format, it apears bi-annually,
and translations, artwork, essays, and a 50 page section of
reviews and noticings.
- Journal
of Narrative Theory, a refereed, international journal
published by the Department of English Languag and Literature
at Eastern Michigan University, that publishes theoretically
sophisticated essays that explore narrative issues from a variety
of interdisciplinary, cross-cultural and critical contexts.
- Michigan
Quarterly Review, the University of Michigan's flagship
journal, publishing each season a collection of essays, interviews,
memoirs, fiction, poetry, and book reviews.
- Xylem,
the Undergraduate English Association's annually published
literary magazine. Only undergraduate students at the University
of Michigan are eligible for publication.
- Passages
North, Northern Michigan University's literary journal,
published on a biannual basis, features poetry, short fiction,
interviews, and personal essays. The journal not only receives
and publishes writers from across the country and around the
world, but it also pays special attention to "emerging
writers."
- Fourth
Genre: Explorations in Nonfiction, Michigan
State University's new journal devoted to publishing notable,
innovative work in nonfiction. The title reflects our intention
to give nonfiction its due as a literary genreto give
writers of the fourth genre a showcase for their work and to
give our readers a place to find the liveliest and most creative
works in the form.

Fiction Submissions!
Ann Arbor Review is accepting fictions submissions for its Spring
2002 and Fall 2002 isssue. The Fall 2002 issue is devoted to Michigan
Writers. For this special issue Ann Arbor Review is seeking submissions
from fiction writers living in Michigan or fiction writers raised
in Michigan but currently living elsewhere. There are no limits
on manuscript length. Submissions of short, shorts, short stories
and novel excerpts will be considered. Send submissions to Ann

The
MacGuffin (Speaking of Freedom)
The MacGuffins 160-page themed volume to be published in
June 2002, will give a voice to the issue of freedom through poetry,

The
Davorean Hanna Poetry Competition 2002
The
Davoren Hanna Poetry Competition is now accepting submissions
for this year's contest. Sponsored by Eason Bookshops (Ireland's
largest chain of book stores) and The Muse Cafes, the competition
will be judged this year by acclaimed Scottish poet Carol Ann
Duffy, widely regarded as one of Britain's leading contemporary
poets, and US Poet Laureate Billy Collins.
Named after the gifted young Dublin poet who died in 1994, the
competition offers a first prize of EUR6500, and second and third
prizes of EUR2500 and EUR1250 respectively, making it one of the
largest such awards in Ireland and the UK.
The competition is open to both published and unpublished poets
over the age of 18. and entrants may submit as many poems as they
wish. The closing date is 31st May 2002, with the winners being
announced in early August. Entry forms, rules and guide lines

A good prompt/lesson plan page that concerns itself mainly with
